During the third semester of my master studies, I participated in the Global Game Jam that took place at the UAS St. Pölten. The challenge was to keep the game development simple enough to end up with an enjoyable game in 2 days. The Virtual Reality game is about repairing client’s possessions so they don’t go and buy new things – which would be bad for the environment.
“With the throw-away society on the rise “My Little Repair Shop” is the last frontier to save broken things and also our planet. In our VR-Game you are a repair hero on your quest to repair broken things from people around the world. But your customers are not very patient so you have to hurry up or they buy new stuff. The new stuff needs resources from our planet and weakens it. If too many people buy new things our planet is DOOMED.. and so are you ;-)”
Since there was so little time, we relied on VRTK, a toolkit that enabled us to quickly implement interaction in VR. The game was done with Unity.
